My obsession with predators started early in life. One of my earliest memories was of staring eye to eye with a pike as it laid on the kitchen table. I think I was about 4 yrs old. All I wanted to do after that was to see how my father had caught it! After a lot of crazing on my part, we went on our first trip, down to the River Severn. My father with his spinning gear and me with an old cane rod and a home made float.
On my very first cast, I managed to hook a medium sized eel in the tail. That was me hooked on predator fishing! I learned a lot in those early days on the River Severn and in the 60's and 70's it wasn't the river it is now. It was dirty, polluted and there was not many predators around.
At the age of 21 I was lucky enough to move to Norfolk. If you are interested in predator fishing, its the best place in the world. Within a week of moving I bought a boat and was spending more and more time on the broads, probably too much time.(Ask my ex-wife!).
I have now spent over twenty years fishing the Broads and it just gets better and better. Unlike other guides I won't tell you theres a 20lb fish under every Lilly Pad and a 30lb round the corner, but what I will do is give you a good days fishing and you never know, the next cast could be a Broadland Monster!
